COBRA is the acronym for the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, which is a federal law that gives you and your covered eligible dependents (including children born or adopted during COBRA coverage), the right to purchase continued coverage under the current health care plan, if coverage would otherwise end because of a qualified event. You will have 60 days to make your election. The length of continued coverage depends on the nature of the qualifying event.
COBRA is a great way for many people to temporarily maintain their health insurance coverage, but it may not be the healthiest option for your budget. At eHealth you can:
- Discover your COBRA alternatives
- Find the right health insurance plan for you and your family
- Make the most of your health insurance dollars
If you are a COBRA participant or have questions about enrolling in COBRA call 1-877-292-6272.
